California man uses nude mannequins to send message to 'nosey' neighbor

Jason Windus gave his California neighbor something to look at during a dispute over the height of a backyard fence — naked mannequins having a garden party.

Four of the fashion dummies are seated in wicker chairs around a matching table. Another is standing with its arms over its head and shamrocks over on its breasts.

A hand-scrawled sign on top of a nearby wooden barrel reads, "Reserved seat for the nosey neighbor that complained about my fence to the city."

"They wanted me to tear down my fence to see inside my yard, and now they get to," Windus said.

Windus said he was building a 6-foot (2-meter) fence at his home in Santa Rosa so he could let his dogs out in his backyard when he got a letter from the city saying it violated an ordinance limiting such barriers along sidewalks to 3 feet (1 meter).

Heh, the guy is immune from prosecution.
Now, if he had an anti-Muslim or anti-illegal alien sign there, well then he’d be in a heap-O-trouble.

And yet another Seinfeld schtick that you would never think could play out in real life does just that.

He needs to put MAGA hats and shirts on them. I bet that will REALLY tick of the neighbor.

I really like this! He’d better keep an eye on them though, to make sure they don’t get too frisky!

The neighbor was correct.

It brings down everyone’s property values when someone does something not allowed in the neighborhood.

You move in when the laws are in place, you should not complain when they are enforced.

I would not want my house next to a barricade like that next door.

Shirys for the guys, maybe, but the bikini girls could use “MA” and “GA”, if you get my meaning...

Limited to a 3 foot fence when bordering a sidewalk?

Anti dog law.

Good idea. That would bug the neighbor more.

More like “Code Enforcement does not want to use a step-ladder to look for violations” law. Really it serves no-purpose. It is more a rule you would expect from an HOA than a municipal ordinance. It is not uncommon for there to be an ordinance regarding fencing height and material. However, such an extreme height restriction is usually reserved for front parcels. Since most places realize one of the major reasons for a fence is A. privacy and B. to keep dogs in, they tend to allow a higher fence in the back of the house.

It would be interesting if a Muslim in the neighborhood complained about it.

Even if the Muslim didn’t live in the neighborhood it would be interesting to see what would happen if it were complained about by said Muslim.

No sympathy to him. The city would be fine with the fence if it were moved back the required 3 ft from the sidewalk.

You think a three foot high fence will keep his dogs in the yard?

It could have been worse, I suppose. Might have used real people. And there's good naked, and not so good naked.

Yup.

A 3 foot fence is the city telling the property owner that, effectively, no dogs are allowed. And yes, privacy? ha!
