> What if she had just left and called an ambulance? <
I guess it’s human instinct to think, “If I only wait here a few more minutes, everything will be alright.”
As others have noted, this is just another example of socialism at work.
This is what progressives intend for America.
Well, their system worked. Kept costs down.
If you love your doctor, you’ll have to wait... Socialized Medicine is deadly for non-Elites...
She had three children...
She STILL DOES have 3 children.
What THEY DONT HAVE is a mother.
Socialized medicine creates demand for a service that doesnt exist. Chances are most of the patients taking up space were not emergency cases, but could have been helped at a clinic rather than an ER.
This happens every day in every major city in the US.
Liam Neeson’s wife, Natasha Richardson, fell and hit her head while skiing in Quebec. Got back up and starting feeling bad, so they went to the nearest hospital. It wasn’t equipped for dealing with head injuries. By the time they got her to a hospital that could deal with it, she was already doomed. But she was doomed the moment she hit her head, because the nearest hospital that could deal with her was too far away by car or ambulance. The province of Quebec at the time had zero helicopters for medical emergencies. None. My town of 38,000 has two. But, hey, Canadian health care is free.
“When I travel around the USA, I get Americans saying how nice it must be to have free healthcare. I tell them Id trade them in a heartbeat. My healthcare is far more costly than theirs with sub standard treatment.”
Fifty years ago, one of my wife’s roommates (from before we were married) and her husband, who was Canadian, moved back to Canada primarily because of Canada’s “socialized healthcare system.” But as it has been shown, time and time again, they always seem to “run out of other people’s money” somewhere along the line, so now Canadians have to come here or face delays that sometimes cause their deaths. All the new diagnostic equipment is expensive. So Canadians don’t have enough available CT, MRI or other diagnostic and treatment tools in the numbers needed to meet the needs of their citizens. And, I guess they don’t have enough medical staff either.
“But, hey, Canadian health care is free.”
Yes, and hay is cheaper after it’s been through the horse too!
do they not have triage nurses? who are supposed to bump the ankle sprains and runny noses for heart, head, abdomen cases?
“What if she had just left and called an ambulance?”
Just because you arrive by ambulance does not mean you go straight to a bed. You still go through triage and you may well get parked out in the waiting room. I have seen it many times. No beds is no beds and the most critical people are seen first.
That said, triage blew this case.
The so-called soft socialism of western nations is just an illusion. Western nations are bankrupt, their economies are disintegrating before their very eyes and the promises of lifetime pensions, welfare and healthcare are nothing more than propaganda lies that voters willingly drink. In the end, they will have nothing and be much worse off. Such is the fate of a person who votes for the police powers of the state to steal from another to give them what they want but never earned. Judy Morris Report
And trudeau wants millions more illegals....so overcrowding will never end.
That is in Maine. How was she supposed to get there?
Frog in hot water, Cloward-Piven, socialism, progressivism—all seek the same end—death and destruction while the common man seeks to put food on his table as society rots.
Do those People know any Doctors that work for free? I don’t know any.
The lady died in Canada.
The policy is set by the government or administrators. Who would be the recipient of vindictive aggression?
“Bordage says she believes hospital officials did everything they could”
No they did not. If the only reason she wasn’t seen was no open bed they could have at least taken her back to triage (spelling?) and seen her on that table or some thing sooner than having her wait 11hrs and it seems she was actively making sounds of pain.
I’m thinking I would have tried going somewhere else.
That, and I would be raising Hell in the ER.
They’d call a cop and then the cop would have to file a report and it’d be on the news...twitter...FaceBook...
I mean, a whole lot of trouble could have been raised in those 9 hours.
Even if I drove somewhere else, I’d still make a STINK.
