Take NJs Woodrow Wilson out of all the schools as well. Many NJ schools are named for him.

At least the article does include this quote:

“This is one of the earliest pieces of American literature to take a stand against racism and he does that by really showing Jim as a human being ... a fellow traveler with equal rights and he depicts Huck’s growth,” Roos said. “That’s how the book should be taught.”

Will Tina Fey, Ellen DeGeneres, David Letterman, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus each give back their Mark Twain Prize?

It is clear that these people do not understand Huckleberry Finn. It is a coming of age story of a boy growing up in a racist environment and overcoming his upbringing to see the humanity of blacks, even of slaves. It is a anti-slavery, anti-racist, anti-bigotry story.

These people see “words” without understanding the context the words are used. Who are the real racist here?

Patently stupid and foolish. Sam Clemens used the book to excoriate the antebellum South and slavery. Jim, while an uneducated, and sometimes superstitious slave, is unmistakably a real character, not a caricature.

The language was accurate for its time. It is foolish to dump a book that is one of the few contemporary works to undermines the romantic notions of the South popular in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.

When they come for my copy of “Huckleberry Finn”. I have no plans for giving it up. It’s a first edition, first printing copy.

Lawmakers want to expel Huckleberry Finn from N.J. schools

That's funny, I want to expell New Jersey schools and law makers from the United States.

Maybe we can come to a compromise, we both get what we want.

Clemens is laughing from beyond the grave. The book is 134 years old and it’s still upsetting idiots and the small minded. That’s quite a record, well done Sam.

I suppose it’s too much for the illiterates to understand that Jim but runaway slave is the only fully decent person in the book.

I guess the same group will eventually target the “Diary of Anne Frank” because the Nazis say mean things about Jews.

Talk about a group that misses the point.

Or maybe they don’t miss the point; Twain’s attack on racism is directly contrary to the racist Balkanization desired by the Democrats. They want people divided by race and “forbidden words”.

Woodrow Wilson is responsible for initiating most of the Jim Crow laws, choosing “Birth of A Nation” as his admin’s signature film, and glorifying the KKK, spreading it out of the deep South and to well above the Mason-Dixon Line.

I'll bet most of the people proposing this idiocy have never even read the book.

This kind of mindless virtue-signaling will naturally result in the elimination of other works of literature from public schools. These would include probably every book written by the greatest American novelist of all time (William Faulkner), along with the autobiographical works of Frederick Douglass.

They’re just like the idiots who were offended by Jonathon Swift’s “A Modest Proposal” thinking he was actually advocating eating babies. You’ve compromised the point.

Morons.
