BTW you’re characterization of DM as a fudge factor is dead wrong. The presence of DM was historically inferred from rotational anomalies observed in galaxies. However the other possibility, namely that General Relativity needed to be modified, was also considered. The name given this is MOND (as mentioned in the article). Both DM and MOND have observable consequences beyond rotation of galaxies. MOND actually does a better job of explaining the rotation of galaxies, but none of the MOND models account well for other observations — all are inferior to DM, which is why DM is accepted.

It is possible that a new MOND model could be developed that supersedes DM, but until then DM is the best explanation.

Thunderbolts of the Gods, a book written by David Talbott, Mel Acheson, and Wallace Thornhill is an excellent read on historical references supporting the electric universe theory! The simplicity and intertwined complexity is truely elegant, so much information and supporting evidence that’s in our face, yet ignored by the main stream community.

They say dark matter is the glue that holds the Universe together. It blows right through everything. I watched a great show the other night on dark matter and dark energy. Gravity pushes down while dark energy pushes up basically keeping us from getting squashed.

I was introduced to Electric Universe theory about a year and a half ago. The elegant simplicity and self evident truths that comprise the backbone of the theory are, at once, both earth shaking and soberly grounding.

Where the Standard Model fails to predict or explain observed phenomena, the Electric Universe theory does both, and in terms that grade schoolers can comprehend.

I predict that it will eventually supplant the existing paradigm completely.

The Michelson-Morley experiment of 1887

Funny thing about the Michelson-Morley experiment is hat there are some who use it to prove the earth does NOT rotate, since the light was never out of phase in any version of the experiment they tried. Einstein used that s proof that light travels the same speed, no matter what. But the earth not rotating has some weird science to it also.

How about “really really fast matter”?

Dark matter exists because we haven’t the proof that enough real mater exists. By sooner or later that proof will come.

It’s at times like this that I really miss RadioAstronomer!

I’d love to hear his thoughts on this.

So many amazing Freepers have been banned, darn it.

I agree... once necessary resources are provided to explore the theory in mass, the ensuing discoveries would be shattering.

“Unfortunately, none of those can account for the genuinely invisible dark matter that seems to make up 26 percent of the mass of the universe, outweighing all ordinary matter more than five to one.”

Uh??

Uh??

I think that’s a typo in the original article. Every other article I’ve read pushing the untenable dark matter hypothesis puts the amount at 96%.

I predict that it will eventually supplant the existing paradigm completely.

Before that can happen, the current generation of 'scientists' who are irrationally wedded to the 'dark matter' crap has to die off. Eventually we'll laugh at the idea of 'dark matter' and 'dark energy'.
