The final season of HBO's Game of Thrones continued Sunday night with the second of six epic episodes that will close out the popular series.
A record 17.4 million viewers tuned in to last week's Season 8 premiere episode, up 1 million from the Season 7 premiere episode from the spring of 2017.
HBO released a teaser for Sunday night episode last week, which begins with a meeting fans have waited the entire series for - Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) finally coming face to face with the man who killed her father, 'The Mad King' Aerys Targaryen, Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), which is the scene that kicks off tonight's episode.
While the bulk of Sunday night's episode was devoted to showing the denizens of Winterfell preparing for the war to come, the big moment of the second episode came at the end.

...and she didn’t take it well. In fact, she seemed more incredulous and defiant about Jon Snow possibly being heir to the iron throne than she did about the king slayer being pardoned
Spoiler in the title! Ouch! I’m only up to season 4.
There might not be a iron throne to sit on. Read a theory last night that syncs up with a lot of the past visions. The Knight King can go where theres a million people and a army just sitting there in Kings Landing then turn around and defeat Winterfell. What we saw at the end last night might be just a diversion group

That’s funny, I believe I heard someone say that very same thing this morning on the radio when I was driving to work. I think it was Clay Travis.
Dany’s dragon’s are in the north, and for that matter, aren’t feeling to well either (although they were good enough to take the love birds for a joy ride for a hallmark moment).
The question left unanswered is the exact 10-20 of Cercei’s army.
Oooh, nice theory! That would get everyone down to KL for the big finale, too so they could have the epic battle complete with dragon wars, Cleganebowl, and the crowning of the real king/queen at once rather than two separate battles one to defeat the dead and one against Cersei.
Also, the iron islands aren’t necessary a sanctuary from the dead if the knight king is airborne.
And they still have Wild Fire below the city. So maybe Jon and the bunch blows up the whole city and the undead before they completely march north
I have been unhappy with season 8 so far. It is too rushed and feels contrived. So much attention to detail was put into building some of these character arcs, and it seems a shame to blow through the end of these storyline at warp speed. All the reunions do not feel well written. It probably would have been better had it been a full season.
I thought last evening’s episode was fantastic.
Probably the best episode of anything I’ve ever seen.
LOL! Same here. Actually, I've seen the entire series before but I'm in the process of rewatching it. I'm holding off on Season 8 until I finish but I also understand that if I want to avoid spoilers, I'm just going to have to go live in a cave somewhere.
Rewatching the series is a must if you are a fan. Now that I know the gist of the storyline and who the characters are, I'm catching so many little details that I missed out on the first time. It's made the series much more enjoyable this second time around.
I’ve read all the books. when is the next/last book coming out? The TV series has outrun the book!
“I thought last evenings episode was fantastic. Probably the best episode of anything Ive ever seen.”
we thought exactly the same thing, even said those same words ...
As I understand it, there are only 8 episodes in the final season, and the first two are “Cannonball Run” episodes where all the stars show up but nothing much happens. Can we save it for the reunion show and get down to some slashing and fire breathing?
I will watch it again. Sometimes I like them better the second time.

Get in line, I waitied almost 7 years for book 4 to come out. I was beyond angry at book 4 becauae it was all the minor characters
Truly.
The Episode moved me to tears several times, but most especially when Jamie knighted Brienne. It made me laugh. Tormund Giantsbane is just the best, and has the most epic flaming beard of all time.
I also really enjoyed the song played during the credits roll.
My guess is never.
I’ve read all 5 books twice.
I’m done with GOT after the tv series.
You’ve had enough time, George. I’m done waiting.
I am convinced that George is waiting to find out how the series ends so that he can write the next book.
Season 8 is just six episodes
