What is it with these governors wanting to legalize marijuana? Are they so hungry for tax dollars to squander (I notice it’s the more lib states wanting to do this) that they don’t care how the public will be endangered by drivers who are higher than a kite driving while under the influence and smashing into innocent peoples’ vehicles?

there are laws against driving while incarcerated and hitting other people and objects. This people should go to jail. maybe the governors are tired of using law enforcement to go after pot heads.

Abso-freaking-lutely. Bonus: the citizens will be nice and mellow while they pay for their smart elders who got the hell out of there and now live on a super-fat pension in a low/no tax state.

Doubtful - people who before legalization didn't use because it was illegal, will after legalization not drive under the influence because it's illegal.

Then lets bring back alcohol prohibition. That worked out just great.

It's the money and they're happy to have a dumbed down, dependent electorate.

A risk that's been mostly overblown by hysterical drug warriors.

There is a lot less money in marijuana taxes that the Illinois government and other like minded politicians pretend.

It will cost a ton of money to police counterfeit tax stamps and other untaxed grass. The higher the taxes are, the more motivation for gangsters to smuggle or grow their own product in, rob warehouses, factories, fields, etc.

The windfall that Colorado received was caused by Marijuana tourism. Its not going to be repeated, just like when most states legalized casino gambling.

This is fool’s gold for the Illinois dupes who see this as a panacea.

If Illinois or any other state wants to legalize grass, it should be done on its own merits, the money just isn’t there.
