The United States escalated a tariff war with China on Friday by hiking levies to 25% for $200 billion worth of Chinese goods in the midst of last-ditch talks to rescue a trade deal. But even as Beijing threatened retaliation, negotiators in Washington agreed to stay at the table for a second day, keeping alive hopes of an eventual agreement. Why haven’t the Democrats sought federal injunctions to stop Trump?

Do they support tariffs, too?

Years ago, when globalism was getting out of control, there were concerns. A lot of real conservatives were concerned about the day when the US is no longer self-sufficient. It was recognized that the longer it took to reverse direction, the worse the impact would be in the future.

The future is now.

Move US companies out of China and over to Taiwan and Vietnam. We’ll figure it out.

The problem is that we might already be too far down the slippery slope. The focus has to be on an effort to make the US self-sufficient again. I’m not sure younger generations have any experience with what that even means, either as a nation or as individuals.
