Actually, properly packaged and disposed of trash has a high value—its labor value. That’s the value of the time and effort it took to collect it and pack it for disposal. If it’s ripped up and spread all over everywhere, the Labor Value of that trash massively escalates since it must be recovered and repackaged.

I’m guessing the guy is setting it up just for the clicks on the internet.

Either that or the game warden happened by to see the dog chewing on the deer leg.

“Say now, isn’t that a deer leg? Ay?”

“Hmm - I wouldn’t know.” (As the man gently closes the garage door where he was recently butchering the poached deer.)

“Why - yes, I believe it is. I wonder where he found that - looks awful fresh.”

“I don’t know. But you know, there was a ruckus out back early this morning, and the trash was strewn all over, I bet....”

BTW - why would the bear be “hungry”, yet willing to give up the deer bones? Or - if the bear had just eaten some of the deer - why would it be hungry?

Smart bear. I have a dog who looks a lot like a bear. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were distant cousins going back a few hundred thousand years.

One Canadian man claims that his guard dog is in cahoots with a local black bear, with the bear allegedly giving the dog deer bones to munch on in exchange for full access to the household trash.

Sounds like the dog's owner is aiding and abetting.

If it works. My current dogs are a little stomach weak, so they don't get stuff like this. But many of their predecessors loves deer legs. Hunting season, plenty of them from the butcher. Actually would freeze them. Once a neighbors dog, male, sorry for being gender specific, brought my two females a deer head, meaty, which his owner (slaveowner?} had thrown out. Didn't work, they growled and snapped at him. Made sense to me at the time.

Actually I thought about this episode, as it was told to us. First, Bear & dog are a rare combination, to get along with each other.

I don't like the fact that this dog is purposely put in harm's way. As a matter of fact, deer bones splinter....so they are a health hazard to the dog. IMO

A large boar came up on our deck last spring; the dogs went wild and almost went through the triple pane slider door to get at him. He didn't like the .45 fired into the ground near his butt.

He was a frequent visitor all summer. Never got into our trash, b/c we keep it closed up in the garage until pick-up day. The town was over run with them; lots of complaints. I heard Maine may be opening their bear season this year, allowing 2 per permit; b/c of overpopulation.

I've seen bear, but not in our yard this spring; trail cam had one back and forth on the edge of our property; he went for the camera and the video of him sniffing the camera is priceless.

Bear meat is delish! Been enjoying steaks; stew and bear stroganof all winter.
