Because they have turned Dany into the Mad Queen.
It does ring true this is the ending GRRM described to the show writers.
My only objection is they didn’t sufficiently foreshadow that Dani would go mad.
When John spurned her she said “Then let it be fear”.
I guess she went crazy as well, burning the city as her father wanted to.
Final battle will be John and Arya vs. The Mad Queen.
Still predict Tyrion will be king probably with Sansa.
I did like the episode.
Jaime the Kingslayer is gone, but I wonder if Jon will kill Danaerys. That would hark back to the Azor Ahai/Nissa Nissa legend at least slightly.
Not just Dani. The Unsullied are also mad. The Dothraki will not follow anyone but their Goddess.
The ideal outcome from the viewpoint of the common people, would be for all the royals, and all their soldiers, to all die.
Revenge. And she said they didn’t love her, but will settle for fear.
I was thinking same for a while, that Jon will kill Danaerys. But now I wonder if Sansa or Arya will.
Nature abhors a vacuum. “Into every generation a slayer is born: one girl in all the world, a chosen one. She alone will wield the strength and skill to fight the vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness; to stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their number. She is the Slayer.”
We’ll see. It could be Tyrion, Arya, or Jon.
Peach
No reason, except the wrath of a queen spurned by her nephew lover. Maybe Dany is madly unstable, although she seemed to fight it for a while?
Well Cersei got it. Unfortunately Jaime went with her. I feel sad for Brienne. Maybe there’s hope for Tormund yet.
What will Jon do about Dani?
Arya did ride off on a white horse. She isn’t done.
Arya is there in King’s Landing in the preview for next week’s episode.
Omgosh ... my husband and I loved the episode (Cleganebowl and Twin Bowl) but our millennial son hated it and thought it was boring. What is with that generation and how everything has to be over the top? We loved the happy endings (such as they were).
They interviewed Maisie Williams I think and she said the ending was bitter sweet. We’ll see.
Exactly. And after witnessing and going through all of that horror on the innocents. She may certainly feel the need to stop Dani.
Well that sounds just like Arya.
My husband and I loved tonight's episode! It was far from boring. I absolutely hated last week's vapid episode though.
Looks like Varys was right...
Well, so much for Dr. Frankenstein (Qyburn).
Don't care who rules what.
Hound is gone.
F&ck the King Queen.
Spoiler:
A bunch of stuff happens, and then these two girly men with lisps talk about how good they are at writing/directing/producing “thith thtuff”. Way to knock down your own work butt buddies. I thought they were going to start prancing.
