San Antonio officials want to hide comments condemning Chick-fil-A

City officials in San Antonio, who discriminated against Christian-owned Chick-fil-A in their airport contracting, are trying to hide from the public their conversations now that they’re under investigation for their behavior.

WND reported in December the chain with the famed cattle urging “Eat More Chikin” has been forecast to leap past Taco Bell, Burger King and Wendy’s to become the third largest restaurant chain in the U.S.

The liberal hatred for the chain erupted when Dan Cathy, the son of founder S. Truett Cathy, said in an interview in 2012 he supports traditional marriage.

Since then, students on college campuses have demanded that the chain be banned, city officials in Toronto and Pittsburgh have worked against the company, and in San Antonio, officials approved an airport contracting agreement with the provision that Chick-fil-A be banned.

When news came of San Antonio’s decision to single out Chick-fil-A, First Liberty Institute asked Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao to investigate whether the city’s rejection of the restaurant chain violated federal nondiscrimination law and would impact any grants.

City officials said they would refuse to allow a franchise in the airport because the company has donated to organizations such as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Paul Anderson Youth Home and the Salvation Army.

Heh, I have always like the Chick-Fil-A advertising...:)

I guess it kind of touches on my fondness for the “Far Side” cartoons, which featured talking cows.

My favorite: the one where the cows are standing on their hind legs in a field talking to each other, and one of them serving as a lookout yells “Car!” and as the car passes, they have all resumed the typical four-legged, cud-chewing posture...:)

“San Antonio is an altogether wicked city. Now they are criminally corrupt, “

You are correct when talking about most of our politicians, but not about the city’s people. I’ve lived here for the last 18 1/2 years, and there is a WORLD of difference between here and any schitty in the Northeast (and, I presume, any coastal schitty or Schitcago). There are more churches here per capita than in just about any large schitty, and people are unusually polite on the roads compared to elsewhere - it that the wickedness of which you speak? Because if it is, then I don’t think that word means what you think it does.

Talk about something when you know what you’re talking about.

“Female calves (heifers) with dairy breeding may be kept as replacement cows for the dairy herd. If a replacement cow turns out to be a substandard producer of milk, she then goes to market and can be slaughtered for beef. Male calves can either be used later as a breeding bull or sold and used for veal or beef.”

Just more anti-Christian persecution. No one’s closing falafel shops.

Thank you for your very passionate response.
Sequin here.
I will agree with your assessment on the political games played in SA.
Can’t agree with much else.
Not looking for a argument.

Sorry, the people of that city overwhelmingly voted in rank Communists for their city government. The government is no better than the citizenry which elects it.

That’s not to say that there aren’t good people there.

As I the reasoning of the problem it is that Chick isn’t open on Sundays.
This is an airport facility that is open on Sundays. Thus they want
the facility open during airport times for city income.

Now the actual reasons may be far differing than just a city contract
and taxes income. Politics can be a rough encounter at times.

Bravo Sierra on your “Christianity isn’t strong” here in SA. There’s more faith-based, caring ministry going on here than most places in the US and more evangelical activity and congregations than anywhere else I know of. The city is, unfortunately, run by progressive idiots in lockstep, and there’s been no effective way to get more conservatives into office.

The same can be said about In-N-Out Burger. I have often wondered why libtards don't go after them, especially in California. They don't close on Sunday, but do put quasi-hidden bible verses on their wrappers.

Some of the experts here dont either. Any dairy farmer will tell you that there isnt really any such thing as a dairy cow, they are all on loan from the beef industry and eventually have to go back.

The Far Side is insane...only one other cartoon comes close, Bloom County. If you like Far Side I bet you like Bloom County too. I’ve been a huge fan of both for along time, have the book with the cow cartoon you mentioned. Another one I always remember is the “harmburger and meanball sandwich”...I think both were in the same book. Cartoon of both with teeth and growling... Been trying to remember the name and it escapes me...I think it was Wildlife Preserves...cover picture is animals in jars...I have that one and the Far Side Gallery around here. Probably others...

Then there’s this thread from a couple of years ago, internet search turned it up...

http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3586632/posts

I have a couple of Far Side books around here somewhere, krazy stuff. Just found most of the Bloom County books at a resale shop, including one with the “Billy and the Boingers” record in it. (guess you had to be there) Sent it to my brother. He had never found the record, this one was still attached. Calvin and Hobbes is an old favorite too. Calvin is a little maniac...

And how can I omit 11 twisted facts about far Side...

Thanks for both of those links-if I rate my favorite cartoons and The Far Side is a 10, the closest anything else gets is about a 7...something like Calvin and Hobbes or the old Peanuts.

I was given a gift of the encyclopedic collection of his works (two, large, fat, full color, full page volumes, it is wonderful!

I don't post his cartoons anymore because I read his heartfelt "A Note From Gary Larson" where he tries as nicely as he can to ask people not to post his cartoons online (a largely losing battle!) and I admit I miss posting them, because I got a lot of enjoyment out of offering them up to people at certain points in conversations to make a point.

And Gary Larson ALWAYS had one that was appropriate for the situation.

My favorite is the one of a pilot and his copilot, the view from just in back of them so you see them and the view in front of them out the windscreen. There is a break in a cloud and a mountain goat looking at them. The Copilot is saying to the Pilot: "Say...what's a mountain goat doing way up here in a cloud bank?"

Classic. Just classic. I would always use it when there was a discussion involving a human who, in some situation, completely did not register the reality of it. Kind of similar to a woman who accidentally walks onto a mens room, and looks at the urinals in puzzlement thinking "What are urinals doing in here?" instead of immediately thinking "OMG...I'm in the men's room!"

Happens to all of us...:)

Other favorites:

My ex’s family were dairy farmers...Also, her dad was an artificial breeder...I don’t ever remember them selling any dairy cow for beef...

Well, the dairy farmer wasn’t selling it. He was just having it all processed for burger for himself. I guess he wasn’t particular.
