Great series, terrible ending.

I enjoyed it, but the last season was definitely rushed/hurried, and it showed. The writers who took over from George Martin are being roundly - and deservedly - criticized for their mishandling.

The dragon CGI was amazing. I thought the monstrous dragon in “Reigen of Fire”, and Smaug in “The Hobbit” were good, but this was amazing.

I watched "Reign of Fire" and was rooting for the dragon. Is that wrong? :-)

Saw it in the theater. Skydiving Dragon-Hunters. Impressive on the Big Screen.

I agree with your entire post.

Martin would have brought it to a different conclusion. Too bad he didn’t finish the series.

Yes, all of season 8 and about half of season 7 seemed really rushed. It totally jumped the shark IMO with episode 4 of the last season. I saw one of the show runners explaining that Daenerys lost her second dragon and fleet "because she'd forgotten about the Euron Greyjoy and the Iron Fleet". Really? That's your explanation? This last season was pretty much a washout for me. The only gripping episode was "The Long Night" (ep. 3), in which Daenerys selflessly came north to fight the Night King before going total Hitler in ep. 5.

I was not as bothered by the last episode as I might have been, had it not followed the train wreck of episode 5. However, I do not see how Drogon doesn't incinerate Jon Snow after Jon killed his "mother". I collected digital versions of all the previous seasons. I doubt I will ever revisit it now (or buy season 8).
