That’s how it /should/ be. You got some getting desert, some getting ready to leave, and 5 checks at the table, and I’m not seeing a server coming by to issue the checks.
The restaurant should work with their servers to reinforce not just service, but timely delivery of the bills and are dang lucky someone stepped up to pay rather than it being a $500+ lesson.
Yes, it’s Mother’s Day, the second busiest day at a restaurant in a normal year, and probably the worst day of the year for service in my experience.
No excuse to leave without paying, but also no excuse not to present the bill TO be paid.
I see. If the server does not bring your check in a timely manner, you are
entitled to walk out. How about asking for the check when you ready to leave
if the server has not given it to you? This walk out was pre planned.
