There are plenty of artisans who can rebuild anything. Early Mustangs are most doable because ALL the parts are available. I serviced the computers at a place in Connecticut called Mustangs Unlimited. ALL they sold were Mustang parts.

Look at it as Art, or History.
Mechanically, rear leaf springs, a flexy unibody and ignition points make for a bumpy, twitchy unreliable drift down the highway.
Loved my 65 convertible and 69 Mach I, but that was 25 years ago.
My WRX goes through the snow, gets 30+ mpg and can out corner the 350GT.
Shelby did wonders for the American auto industry, made millions happy drivers and helped BEAT Ferrari in the 60s.
Look at it all and enjoy the memories.

If you all are looking for a cute and FAST Mustang, get your checkbook out and call my friend Tom. Try googling Shelby Code Red also.

The A/C was the first clue.
My knowledge base is 30 years old, but I don’t think you could order A/C in a 66. I think a dealer might have installed a few.
Not saying somewhere along the way somebody added it for creature comfort, but the original early model Shelbys were pretty close to street racers with little extra.
But the 66’s already were less true-racers than the 65s.

I agree. It’s been a while for me,too, but I don’t recall the Shelby GT 350 available with either air conditioning or automatic transmissions in 65-66. I think this is a “tribute” Shelby but still worth maybe $40,000 in some places before being wrecked.

67 Camaro convertible and 57 Bel Air. I replaced all the sheet metal in the front from the firewall on the Camaro and straightened up the doors hat had been sideswiped. The Bel Air had a crushed tail fin I cut out and replaced, a lot of work.

Speaking of wrecked supercars, what's left of a 1968 Road Runner, An incident that happened near my old stomping grounds on the Palisades Pkwy in Rockland Cty, NY. A Rolf Dunbier (mispelled various ways), most likely committed suicide, after being caught a year earlier, for plotting to blow up a very important railroad bridge in Zambia. He was being investigated by the FBI. Lived in Scarsdale, ran a German Metal Company. The plan was to spike the price of copper globally. It seems he tried to pull a Nelson Mendella, but for financial gain instead of making a political statement. The remains of the Road Runner was last seen at a Citgo station in Nanuet, NY, before presumably being "repurposed" as a Doge Colt or something similar :-(
