President Donald Trump told CNBC on Monday he believes China will make a deal with the U.S. “because they’re going to have to.” In a wide-ranging telephone interview on “Squawk Box, ” Trump defended his threats to slap tariffs on Mexico and China, which he said are putting the U.S. “at a tremendous competitive advantage.” “The China deal is going to work out. You know why? Because of tariffs,” Trump told co-host Joe Kernen. “Right now, China is getting absolutely decimated by companies that are leaving China, going to other countries, including our own, because they don’t want to pay the tariffs.”

Sounds like he has a point there. The edge of China is a fragile edge. He doesn’t have to tax China very much to get it to totter.
And a theory popped into my mind about why it’s fragile. The heavily resource consuming socialist government of China has nibbled every scrap away that it can get. There’s nothing left for resilience. It has brought on its own nemesis.
He should go after things the Chinese Communist Party owns
Every time I hear Trump talk economics I’m really impressed. He has great command in this area.
China uses tariffs, currency manipulation, intellectual theft, bribery, fraud, slave labor, and out right theft/human abuse to keep their economy running. It’s not a recipe for long term success. Everyone needs to look at the label and put cheap Chinese crap back at the store. Even if just 25 percent of Americans put that crap back and refused to buy it then China would come begging for a deal. We are our own worst enemy. Boycott China toxic crap.

But anyhow, China must be finding it even harder to understand what they are doing to themselves than you found my assertion to parse :-).
The expense of their socialist dreams (come on, are they real about trying to score every single person for social credit?) has expanded to eat up all it can. All Donald Trump had to do was tweak the margin with a small tariff, something that consumers of Chinese products might not even mind, and China fell on its face! This was arranged by God, not by man.

In high-level terms, China got so used to never being accountable for anything that they were totally unprepared when it happened.

I read earlier China is shipping goods to sanctioned countries via illegally using Vietnam. Like the US is stupid.
Donald just does not play the ole smoke filled back room game. That would have seen the Chinese donate into the Clinton Machine and all of a sudden the US would have folded.
And the million man protest in Singapore doesn’t help Xi Jinping a bit...President Trump has one more bit of leverage to put some weight on...
