U.S. soccer star Alex Morgan is getting ready to help defend her team’s World Cup title in France next month and if the Americans should win again, she said she’s prepared to decline a possible invitation to visit President Trump at the White House.
Morgan, who has previously been outspoken about Trump and his administration’s policies, told Time Magazine in a lengthy profile published Thursday she doesn’t stand for what the current president stands for.
“I don’t stand for a lot of things the current office stands for,” she said, adding that she doesn’t care for the administration’s policies about separating migrant families at the U.S.-Mexico border.
She said she would not go to the White House if the president invites the team. It was unclear if Trump had any plans to invite the team, if they win.
“We don’t have to be put in this little box,” Morgan said. “There’s the narrative that’s been said hundreds of times about any sort of athlete who’s spoken out politically. ‘Stick to sports.’ We’re much more than that, OK?”

Most high school boys Soccer teams would crush these so called “professionals” who want more money to watch them play at a mediocre level. Sorry to offend some, but it’s the truth; ask the Australian team.
I hope that not one millionth of a penny of the federal taxes I pay goes to subsidize this or any other sport. I hope the team loses to a country that does not have its collective head up its collective ass like Hungary or Poland.

I remember in 1958, they asked for kids to sign up for Soccer. They never got a one. Commie Football.

Going to be interesting when guys who “identify” as women start taking these ladies places on these teams.

True dat. When my son was a teenager he played for his high school and for an elite local 'traveling team'. This traveling team was 12-0 in Western PA and decided to enter in three week event in Sweden.
The 'elite W. PA, 12-0 team' went '0'ffer in Europe against kids that were the same age and went 2-6 against kids that were 2-3 years their junior.
The skill level was exponentially different, and we were sucking wind.
The female teams that play in the world cup, would get slaughtered by high school aged boys, because many are good enough to be playing professional {and some are}.
“Soccer” is not even an American sport. Why would they get invited to the White House?
It’s a social occasion, not a political one.
The players go to the White House to be celebrated,
for their achievements, not to debate policy.
Apparently we’re all too childish now to have polite
social interactions with people with whom we disagree.
