in my day....last 60’s early 70’s..it seemed the only kids the counselors had time for were the ones with rich parents or otherwise already getting lots of scholarship money.....you know, the important people
How true then and now. It seems most high school counselors spent time getting the children of socially prominent families into the best colleges.
I remember in 1966, my counselor looking at my PSAT scores and telling me I would have trouble getting C’s in college.
She was right-I did have trouble getting C’s. I didn’t get any! (In fairness she recommended I take a chemistry class which I did with a great teacher-who changed my life).
