I have no interest in going to these resort islands and locations anymore. I think the liquor is tainted and there are no health regulations or codes to enforce craftsmanship and a safe product from these home grown distillers. I’ve read also of many rapes that go unmentioned. No Thanks....tons of places to go to here in the states with laws that protect you.

I sense a revolution brewing beneath the surface there in the DR that the ‘ministry of tourism’ is not going to allow publish. Like the ‘causes’ of death listed by the DR Government they are all symptoms of something that happened to these individuals. Someone’s trying to drive the tourist industry away from this place. If this doesnt work then they’ll achieve the goal in a more assertive manner.

Anyone going there better watch your six

Fewer than there used to be, there are now states that refuse to protect the citizens from illegal aliens.

Been to only one “all inclusive” in Costa Rica. Doubt the liquor was tainted, but the only drink that wasn’t overly weak was the local beer—Imperial. I doubt anyone, anywhere taints beer.

You nailed it! We’ve got the Atlantic coast, the Pacific coast, and the Gulf coast, so there are plenty of beach resorts to be found where the locals speak English, the booze is safe, the restaurants are inspected, and you are not targeted for being an American.

Many locales are within driving distance so no TSA, and you can even carry protection.

There could be a couple different problems.

There may be some all inclusive resorts using cheap liquor. It may contain methanol. This will make you sick and potentially kill you.

However, many of the deaths were from pulmonary edema. Fluid in the lungs. This is not typical from methanol poisoning. This is most likely according to what I have read in the last week from pesticide poisoning. Most likely the companies maintaining the landscaping at the resorts. It could also be the companies contracted to spray to kill insects. Roaches/palmetto bugs are a big problem in the tropics. Who says they are using something not approved in the US.

There is a story about a couple suing one of these resorts for pesticide poisoning from a year ago. They did not die. They just got really sick from something they were spraying outside their room.

Rapes happen all the time on cruise ships too. Many go unreported because the woman was drunk and it happens in the open seas or in dock of some foreign country. All the major cruise ships fly flags of Panama, Liberia or some other foreign country. That means once you leave the port in the US you are subject to whatever flag they fly. Some of these rapes are by other passengers. Many are by crew members. This is some Carnival & Royal Caribbean do not like to advertise.

Are you ready for a cruise?

The liquor flows freely and I have not seen any passengers et sick.

Even a non drinker like myself will have a couple of pina coladas a day.(some with a rum floater) - Tom

Any one of the “ABC” Islands; Aruba, Bonaire or Curacao are fine. Ruled by the Dutch, and everything shipshape.

Six years ago we did an all inclusive in Punta Cana, the Bavaro Princess. At check-in they gave wifey and me complementary cigars. All was fine, except my wife’s body heat attracts mosquitos! She got eaten alive. Smoked the cigars when we got home. Best I ever had. Been to Aruba four times. A desert island. NO bugs or mosquitos. Will never return to DR. I’ll buy my own cigars.
