Not being there during the shooting ensured his survival.

Yup. If Hogg is being truthful, Harvard would open itself to lawsuits if anything happened and they were aware of the threat.
On another hand, Hogg would also need to avoid “friendly fire” if it would, as he says, help the anti-gun cause.

1st of all I believe he survived the school shooting because he was not there he rode there on his bicycle to make a film when he heard about the shooting.
