Maybe I missed this and hadn't seen it discussed here at FR, but a caller to Rush said there was a movement in CA to convince Rs and conservatives NOT to answer the census in order to deliberately cause a massive undercount of CA's population, which he argued, would then result in congressional seats being taken away from CA. It would "hurt" Californians by reducing their representation, but since they are always D-dominated, it really wouldn't hurt them.
Thoughts and arguments on this? Anyone in CA: is this gaining traction?
I was actually thinking of this for all deep blue states.
IT should take about 10 seconds for it to catch on everywhere and then it will be a wash.
California just needs to get rid of its ineligible voters (some 700,000 names are still listed on the rolls, even though some of them are dead).
That’s enough to carry the state for any dem (and probably what gave the state to Hillary last time).
According to United States Code, Title 13 (Census), Chapter 7 (Offenses and Penalties), SubChapter II, if you’re over 18 and refuse to answer all or part of the Census, you can be fined up to $100. If you give false answers, you’re subject to a fine of up to $500.
It would have to be done in very large numbers to make a difference. California has 40M people.
5 m Rs. That would do it, no?
I tried that once and they sent someone to my home looking for me.
They caught me outside so I could exactly hide from them.
Stupid idea. Republican areas will be under counted. Dem areas will gain more power. All Republicans in Orange County need to answer the Census.
It would be a risk.
However, virtually everything being done in CA to date is illegal. So . . .
100 bucks? might be worth it.
Yes. We won’t provide an accurate count here in Colorado. I’ve been setting this up and counted more than was here in prior years and now will count zero and claim the house is empty.
“Republican areas will be under counted. Dem areas will gain more power.”
For federal elections, that’s not how it works.
For State elections, you guys are already goners anyway.

As a scripturally-literate Christian, I am commanded to obey the civil laws to the extent they do not violate God’s will; so I will be answering all Census questions honestly.
Judicial watch won a court case in CA. to clean up the voter rolls AND it is being done NOW as we speak!!!!
Yes, the art of winning by losing has been perfected by losers over the centuries.
Lose by all means, it’ll send a message.
To the winners.
I WILL NOT be answering the census in CA. NO WAY!!!
I am in a blue state and would do it.
“Judicial watch won a court case in CA. to clean up the voter rolls AND it is being done NOW as we speak!!!!”
I’ve been hoping this is being done quietly, because we’re sure not hearing much about it.
