It's not so much that Barr is corrupt as that the permanent government is more powerful than temporary law enforcers hired by temporary office-holders.
But the FISA scandal has gotten out and somebody has to be sacrificed - I'm sure there are vicious arguments going on behind the scenes about whose "boy" has to get the axe.
