I’m a Yankee fan but not the fanatic I used to be. I’m originally from the Bronx and moved 5 miles over the GWB to NJ in 1949 when I was about 5. I remained a fan because my whole big Italian family loved the Yankees and especially Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra and Phil Rizzuto.
Best season was 78 when you guys had a 15 game lead in August and we caught you and it resulted in the one game playoff where Bucky Fuc*in Dent broke your hearts with the 3 run shot.
Worst season was 2004 when you guys got us back real good in the ALCS. We beat you mercilessly in the first 3 games and then I watched in amazement and broken hearted as you beat us (and Mariano Rivera) 4 straight to take that series and went on to win the World Series. The curse was dead
It was/is the greatest rivalry in baseball
