Well I totally agree with you that modern films have become ludicrous feminist propaganda attempts to make women look stronger than men, Catherine the Great was a powerful person who ruled up powerful empire and held the power of life or death over the vast majority of Russians. If I somehow traveled back in time and had to interact with her I'd be extremely respectful and cautious.

All interesting points. I agree with the first point about the problem of anachronisms. The tendency for creatives project our own self-preoccupations, and current realities/mentalities onto figures and events of the past can be highly irritating.
I am also tiring of Brits playing Russians...But alas, Catherine the Great was not Russian.
