Researchers compare cost effectiveness of different types of treatments for rheumatoid arthritis

A team of researchers affiliated with several institutions in Finland has created a model to compare the cost-effectiveness of different types of treatments for rheumatoid arthritis.

For some conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, it is difficult for patients to decide which treatment option is best for them. Because there are several types of medications available and because they have different associated costs, it is difficult, if not impossible, to choose from among the options available. To address this problem, the team in Finland created a model using real-world data to calculate which among several options is the most cost-effective.

In their work, the researchers used their model to compare the four main options available to patients with rheumatoid arthritis: two types of anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) therapies and the drugs tocilizumab and abatacept. They also considered multiple factors associated with such treatments, such as whether the therapies were given subcutaneously or intravenously, history of drug use, how patients responded to prior treatments, and other predictors of future outcomes. They also included data that described direct costs such as the actual cost of a drug, administration, how much it would cost to switch from one therapy to another, and inpatient and outpatient care. Also included were indirect costs such as those associated with a disability pension or sick leave. Also, more than half of them had a treatment response to a TNF inhibitor.

The researchers report that their model showed that rituximab was the lowest cost option of those tested, but that changed when they added in costs associated with switching therapies and administration costs. When such factors were included, the model showed anti-TNF agents to have the lowest costs and also the highest gains on quality-adjusted life year scores.

And none of these geniuses ever decided to treat RA with cold laser therapy or pulse emf therapy.

I hate to tell this story because most think I’m nuts.

My dad had RA so bad, his joints were swollen and his fingers\toes knotted & gnarled.
he was bent over in constant pain. ( my dad was a bricklayer and his hands were already shot to doll rags, so were the gnarls from RA or his work ? who knows )

They tried gold shots. Caused nothing but more pain.
They tried aspirin therapy...this was terrible - he basically had to overdose on aspirin then get in a warm bath...then keep increasing the dosage

He rubbed St. Anne’s oil on all his joints....RA ? gone. Knots & Gnarls - gone.
RA doesn’t go away, so was he mis-diagnosed ? who knows ? Who cared...he had pain relief for the final years of his life.

Sometimes I get joint pain, pretty severe. Suspect arthritis but never had it diagnosed once I discovered taking cayenne capsules clear it up. It bugged me for many months and after a few weeks of cayenne it slowly cleared up. No problem for a few years then a couple of months ago I started getting knuckle pain in a few spots.

This time I got right on the cayenne capsules and within a week it’s gone again.

Wonder what it was...

A 38 year old female ER nurse who was going on disability due to severe arthritis in her left shoulder and arm came to me for hypnosis for pain management. She had a letter from her Dr. stating it was ok, otherwise I would not do the session as the pain was a symptom, possibly of a tumor and should not be blocked, but the cause resolved.

She was somnambolistic and went into a deep trance.

I asked if the pain in her shoulder could speak, what would it say?

A male voice answered me, shouting, “Get out of here!”

Surprised, I sat back and asked, “Who said that?”

He told me his name!

The male voice told me the location where he was killed in an auto accident, followed his body in the ambulance to the hospital, where he saw this ER nurse in emotional distress and moved in.

I’ll leave out the details, but it ended up that he was killed when he was thrown from his car and it rolled on his left side.

This is when I discovered for the first time that memories are not stored in the physical body, but are stored in the soul and his memory of the accident was manifesting severe pain in the nurse.

After and apology to her for causing her pain, he went to the Light and her arthritis pain was gone.

This happened in the early 1990’s and was the first of a series of many similar bizarre sessions over many years.
