Democrats and Republicans flip on many issues. But one constant remains.
Democrats tend to have the religion of Cain, the first murderet. Democrats believe that they are their Brother’s Keeper. To them, the only question is whether they keep their Brothers in a kind or mean way.
Republicans tend to have the religion of God; that they are their Brother’s Brother.
President Lincoln was an amazing man.
Lincoln, the first Republican President, referenced the Dred Scott decision in his Inaugural Address, March 4, 1861:
“If the policy of the Government upon vital questions affecting the whole people is to be irrevocably fixed by decisions of the Supreme Court, the instant they are made ... the people will have ceased to be their own rulers.”
Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, January 1, 1863, but Congress considered it an overreach of Presidential power.
Lincoln then supported the Republican Congress passing the 13TH AMENDMENT,
