My wife commutes on a Xiaomi Mi365 that I recently bought for about $350. It takes her at most 10 extra minutes each direction since traffic by car is unpredictable, but it saves $11/day in parking plus gas, mileage and wear and tear on the car. So, the scooter will be paid off in very little time.

I can’t really blame Bird for their eco-marketing. Lots of companies make dubious marketing claims. Whatever helps close the sale.

What does she do about carrying luggage? The average scooter looks like it only has enough space for the rider.

That’s smart usage. These one-way trips where someone has to drive around picking up scooters and returning them after charging really cuts the efficiency. Not to mention adding to abuse and short lifespan.

That is about the most dangerous way to travel there is. You get hit and you likely won’t survive.

DH has a mile to work after a ferry ride, he uses his folding scooter and makes the trip in 8 minutes. After seeing his scooter, several fellow commuters have purchased them.
