After it installs it goes to a settings page. I guess it’s trying to set a default browser but the default isn’t on Brave it’s on Microsoft Edge, maybe because I am using Windows 10. I had to do a search to see what Edge even was. I thought Microsoft’s browser was called Internet Explorer.

It was - MS rolled a new browser, Edge, meant to be more compliant with standards. At this point, Edge is based on the open-source Chromium code (as are Google Chrome and Brave). I've been using Brave because it blocks ads automatically, and because it offers an incognito mode which automatically routes through TOR. It also disables automatic tracking (mostly - apparently some Facebook and Twitter tracking are enabled and can't be disabled, because the Brave folks can't figure out how to do so without breaking some pages people expect to view, e.g. Facebook "likes" on non-Facebook pages).
