I have said myself many times: You will find mostly older Democrats who want to commemorate their history, with all its blemishes, and mostly younger Democrats who want to wipe the slate clean and forget that same past. I can see both points of view, there are good people on both sides of that argument.

What of course they should not be allowed to do is re-write that history. Granted, with that history, slavery, Jim Crow, lynch mobs, fire hoses, race oppression, race obsession, who can blame them for wanting to re-write it? But no, you don’t get to re-write it.

I am a Republican but somehow love Civil War history, proud my Confederate ancestors and their cause of state rights which lives on. This is not a Democrat/Republican issue.

Back at the height of the Confederate statue mania, I was conversing with people at work about it, and I made the case that a Confederate statue in a public park could be a real “teachable moment” for someone to pass on to say, a child or younger person who may not have been taught history appropriately. When the child asks, who is that? it’s a prefect opportunity to teach them about our past and how it is relevant today.
I believe I may have at least prompted someone who may not have the same opinion as I did to think about it differently.

Problem this is what democrats point to as proving President Trump is a white supremacist.

No one in the media cares to correct the record
