of course they are doing it on purpose.

this is one way to help ensure destroying the last super power to oppose globalism.

The public schools mostly get away with dumbing down students because they provide what is essentially ‘free babysitting service’ from Monday through Friday.

This certainly does not describe all schools or all teachers, but it does describe quite a few.

The goal is to close the “achievement gap” BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.

Since they can’t bring up the average IQ of a certain group of people, let’s bring down that of other groups.

A good friend dubbed public schools as “failure factories”.

“Memorizing 500 sight-words is very difficult. Most people can not reach 1000 and this process takes years. Surprise. That’s when you find out, for all practical purposes, you’re illiterate. You’ll never read a book.”

Maybe they will, but considering that they won’t be taught reading CORRECTLY (i.e., phonics) until 4th grade (since K through 3rd grade is now nothing but sight-words)...they are ASSURED to be crappy readers. Kids can learn to read at 4 YEARS OLD, providing someone is willing to take the time needed to teach them properly (again, phonics)...but leave it to the public schools, it will be 9 years old, if that.

But, no matter how many times I post stuff similar to the above, parents here will STILL keep sending their kids to public schools, and they will STILL keep whining about the fact that their kids are not being taught properly in public schools. And they will NEVER accept the fact that the schools do not answer to parents, they answer to certain people in government, and those people are doing all they can to bring America down a few notches...and having badly educated people is one of the fastest ways to do that.

...and all I can say is THANK GOD FOR IMMIGRANTS, particularly, Asians, as they are on to this scam, and while they usually send their kids to public schools, they know they won’t learn jack there - so while American kids are playing video games in the late afternoon, Asian kids are at after-school Learning Centers, or informal groups, learning math and reading CORRECTLY.

Without these immigrants, this country would have collapsed decades ago.

This is exactly right as far as math is concerned. After teaching for over 30 years, I still sub. I’ll go into a 2nd grade class where the kids are working on fractions—for say a month. They still can’t even add and they’re shown fractions. At least half of the 8th graders cannot do single-digit multiplication without the aid of a calculator. Even subtraction problems require a calculator. As for fractions, the 8th graders can’t grasp that most calculators aren’t set up for fractions. 1/3 + 1/3 = .6666666, not 2/3.

Critical thinking skills are sorely lacking. The thought of challenging a proposition or a commonly held belief is verboten.

I always enjoyed geometry as a kid because it taught and developed deductive reasoning skills so well.

So when I got into high school and one teacher stated that evolution was a “fact” and another said that the constitution was a “living and breathing” document, I at least possessed the ability to question and challenge those false assertions,

My old hometown area had a high school that was knocking the ball out of the park on state test scores. The district was primarily upper middle class.

The school board’s solution was to slice off 25% of the district and replace with kids from a poorer area.

The test scores plummeted to acceptable levels.

The Rats finally have an entire generation of youth right where they wanted them - as dull-witted little socialists spouting the party line, participating in party protests, and getting commie kudos for activism. Think David Hogg and company.

I took a couple of Master's level Pedagogy classes in college.

I'm just glad to see someone use the word 'pedagogy'.

You can’t create low-IQ people except through disgenic breeding. IQ is a heritable trait, baked in at birth.

GLobal warming and things like common core have the same origin in mind: dumbing down the plebes so the kids of the elites can shine somewhat above them.

A friend of mine knows a couple billionaires. One of them complained that his daughter had to compete with , basically, peasants, in order to get a degree and what not. HE wanted a special school for her for the rich, but, nevertheless, she never made it as good as the others on entrance exams for high institutions, and so he was pi$$ed about that.

I realized this is why the like of Bill GAtes push common core, though he admits that the big failure of America is of having poured so much money in education for so little results. I am not sure, maybe the corporates want kiosk to teach kids instead of teachers, and not have to pay anyone for the nurturing of the mind - not that education is a right either and they prove it with their common coreless OBamacareducation for the plebes

Same thing with global warming. One of the billionaires complained to him that the peasants blocked traffic and that he could not enjoy driving and had to take a helicopter...

I come down about 2/3 nature in the nature vs nurture debate.

True low-IQ individuals, like geniuses, are born, not made.

But education can help the rest or harm them. And the balance is shifting towards harm.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
