Ain’t that the truth...like going from carburetors and point to EFI...

Once they started with the dual cores and such, I couldn’t keep up. Went to Mac and never looked back.

I do miss being able to look under the hood at stuff though.

About my second, and it was not very hard, with getting the headers right being the most time consuming (the manuals need some improvement).

Same here, my first was a 386. And I have no clue why, but I still have it around somewhere when even a Raspberry Pi is far superior.lol

My pc is now 5 years old but after adding a ssd drive it is still fast. No real reason to build a new one other then just for fun.

Gigabyte Technology Z97X-UD5H with 32gb ram from 5 years ago : )
Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB $139 earlier this year

32” LG monitor 1920x1080@60Hz.
I bought it 1 and a half years ago for about $200

Same here. During the mid 1990s to the early 2000s, I must have built a hundred computers for friends, family and co-workers. Those were the days when Circuit City and CompUSA were selling 486 and Pentium-based computers for well over $2,000. I could build them for under $1,000.

People were so appreciative that they'd sometimes slip me $100 bills as a bonus. If only I invested all that money in Apple. At the time, it appeared Apple was going out of business.
