One of my most vivid memories growing up in the 60s my twin and i were at McDonalds with mom and some black folk got so pissed off that we got more fries than them they bitched that they did not fill the little bag as full as ours and went crazy
In the late 70's I worked at McDonalds. They hired a black assistant manager who had a gigantic chip on his shoulder and zero patience for the upper middle class white high school kids that worked there.
They (at my location anyway) made a big deal about the amount of fries you put in the different sizes (only two sizes back then). Anyway, one day some black folks came into the restaurant and he left the grill area to come up and take care of them himself. I happened to notice that when he put their fries in the container, he stuffed it to overflowing, waaaay more than normal.
Being young and stupid and unable to keep my mouth shut I commented on this by saying "boy, they got a lot of fries."
The assistant manager turned on me, fury in his eyes and said, "Black folks are shorted on everything. I will give them as many fries as I damn well please."
It was my first personal exposure to just how much some black people resent white people and feel justified in ripping us off "just to make things even".
No, it doesn't make things even...just worse...
