The father said the two teens often were in the garage at the Connors Street address, smoking marijuana.

“I want answers because they have always been there smoking weed in that garage or whatever you want to call it,” Jimmy said. “They always have been there, and they always hung there smoking weed in that garage.”

“They have all been there (Javier, Jimmy and their friends). We have pictures of them being there,” Jimmy Harrison added, alleging that the property owner knew of the teens’ presence in the garage.

“If you’re inside my house... “

Agreed, but they were in the garage.

Everything not “inside” your home is no longer private property and now public property in common? Theft is now considered to be justifiable and deemed as salvage rights on public property? Are you one of those who still pay property taxes on your front yard and “set back” even though your municipality has deemed all front yards and set backs as public property with public access?

It isn’t certain, but I would wager on him losing this.
Current society and this particular situation will not bode well for him.

“Me? no, come steal my belongings, I will shoot you.”

I honestly and sincerely hope that never happens to you. Because if you shoot someone for stealing your belongings, and you aren’t at risk, you will go to jail.

Is there a reason the homeowner couldn’t stay in his house, with his doors locked, and call the cops?

If the kids bust through the door all bets are off, I get that. But the garage is not the house. It’s not even close to the house from the looks of it.

As children we were in the habit cutting thru people’s yards as a means of getting around the neighborhood quickly. Once I was 13 or so and staying out later into evening, my father told me to cut it out or someone would shoot me.

Boy I’m probably a little less conservative than most here when it comes to when it’s appropriate to take a life.

But I’d want to completely neurtalize any threat in my home and my garage is part of home.

I don’t tell people i own a home.

And a garage.

I own a home with a garage.

And SO MANY things can go wrong in between “FREEZE” and whatever happens next.

castle doctrine...you don’t wait to see if your life is threatened in your own home...no charges.

We'll see, but I think you're wrong on this one. I don't think the garage meets the definition of being threatened in your own home. I sure as hell would not have gone to the garage to confront these two fools. I would have locked myself in the house, with my firearm, and called the cops.

40 feet from the garage to the back door of the house.

Checked it on Google Maps.

848 Conners St, Dayton OH

Interestingly enough, I bought the garage at the exact same time I bought my house.

“How does the homeowner know that the intruders aren’t setting an explosive device or going to come out of there with AK47’s”

Kind of like how they don’t know that Trump didn’t take a loan from Russian oligarchs, or they didn’t know that Trump didn’t obstruct justice.

We did the same, but luckily no issues.
Some people are crazy.
Some lineman set up their truck to do work outside of Harrisburg PA.
Some jackass comes out of his house yelling, and winds up shooting the line truck.

Trespassing is not a justifiable reason to use deadly force.

If the homeowner, armed, investigated his garage and found the two men, the homeowner had the justification to brandish the weapon.

The homeowner didn't indicate that he felt his life was threatened.

Were the two men in the wrong? Absolutely. Was deadly force justified? Given the very limited information in the original article, probably not.

If the facts in the article are confirmed, the homeowner is going to face, and probably be convicted, of manslaughter.

The Florida man who confronted a woman at a convenience store who was parked in a handicap place, then shot her husband when he came out of the store to see why his wife was being verbally attacked, was just convicted of manslaughter.

I don’t know what faith if any you ascribe to but that position would be pretty much in direct contradiction to any reading of the Gospels that I can think of.
