Go Boris...NO DEAL BREXIT. Ditch the EU Commies!
Italy is a disputable case but France and Germany has a good record of stable regimes. To say UK has a better quality of government is laughable. Germans pretty much understand the concept of liberty nowadays but every nation has its peculiarities.
I have no idea why they singled out Netherlands. Maybe because of their stand on all things deviant.
Because they have no idea of what it is - they’ve always been subjects never citizens.
France got rid of monarchs about time US kicked off.
But the country was ruled by monarchs - we as a nation never have. The still have that mentality even after executing the last one of them.
France got rid of monarchs about time US kicked off.
21 years later, or in those days a generation later.
“Modern continental Europe keeps trying to solve its political problem and then to impose its solution on everyone within reach.”
So that’s where the Democrats got their plans for 2020.
About the same era, the legacy lives on.
The EU is an unelected bunch of elitists who want to gradually expand their control until they control every aspect of people’s lives. I think they want to expand to a global scale. To join the EU is to give up your freedom.
“France got rid of monarchs about time US kicked off.”
Really? What was Napoleon?? And was he not followed in rule by Louis XVIII?? And was he not followed by Charles X??
And how many republics has France gone (eaten) through??
The author should too.
England and Netherlands are singled out because of the influence of Calvinism and a recognition of sphere sovereignty with parliamentary democracy. (read Herman Dooyeweerd and Abraham Kuijper).
Shees, talk about liberty. Did you Europeans want it? A decentralized monarchy is preferable to the tyranny of democracy.
France and Germany have good records of stable regimes? Really? What history have you been reading?
They are pretty much stable since WWII.
I actually pretty much made the exception for Italy above.
Europeans don’t want liberty. They want a stipend.
Today, if any debate pops up, it’s between nationalism and internationalism. The EU will paint nationalism as a horror and the people will embrace nationalism in reaction to the threat from the EU. But in essence, they’re spawned from the same monster when they don’t recognize the sovereignty of the individual and the independence of the local.
