Taniguchi admitted to using the fraudulent credit card information to buy goods that he would later sell at a pawn shop to cover his living expenses.

Taniguchi’s above-average mental prowess was limited to his memory. In addition to the notebook which allowed police to tie him to countless illicit purchases made with the stolen credit card info, he also had them shipped directly to his apartment, which is how police were able to apprehend him...

What a waste. Headed off to prison when he could have been cleaning-up at blackjack tables.

Wouldn’t hitting the countless small casinos/Indian casinos be a better way? Not take them for $1,000,000 each but keep the winnings within the range of ‘dumb luck’ rather than alerting the guys with the hammers?

He should go to Las Vegas or Macau and count cards. He’ll make a lot more money that way, at least until they catch on to him.

He’s not extraordinary. My two daughters and me have similar abilities. Many people do. I can read a book or magazine and parrot it back later, even down to citing page numbers and paragraphs. I did this in Federal Court by citing from memory testimony from our opponent’s 85 page deposition about 4 hours after first reading it. I even told the opposing attorney what page their client’s information was on.
Don’t ask me how it works; I don’t know; I only know that it gives me an advantage.
