I went to boot camp at Great Lakes back in the late 70s

I attended Great Lakes in the summer of 1977, July 5th was my first day, believe it or not. I still remember the penicillin shot into my right rear buttock and marching back to the barracks with a funny gait,

Ah, yes. The mighty, mighty ‘A’ shot. We were given ours by this little-but-mean female PO3 Hospital Corpsman. She was barking orders like she was a Marine drill instructor. We were boots, so didn’t know that some E4 ‘doc’ at the RTC clinic wasn’t exactly the Ultimate Command Authority she apparently thought she was. ;-)
