If it crashed on a heading parallel to the highway or street, probably sleepy and tired and mistook a roadway for the runway.

Runway 7/25 does nominally parallel Airport Highway (Ohio Route 2). The Ohio Turnpike crosses the east end of runway 25 at a nominal 45 degree angle. As near as I can figure, the crash site was on the east side of the OTP and in line with the runway.

Unless a lot has majorly changed since the last time I was in the area, there isn’t much out there that would be lighted at 0230 other than the runway and approach beacons so it is doubtful that the road was mistaken for the runway. Even if Bubba’s parking lot was lit, it is in no way shaped like a runway and it is about 3400 or more feet from the end of runway 25 and about 1000 feet from the first approach beacon..

And the reports say no black box recorders on the Convair 440 so investigators will be doing a lot of guesstimating.
