Many years ago, pretty sure it was pre-'Net, around 1994?
I clearly recall the report of a woman fending off several gang-banger types with her AR-15.
What made the report special was that she was alone on a TX? ranch while her politician husband was away. I think he may have been a state senator or assemblyman but it also seems he might have been a congressman?
At the time there was speculation that she might have been targeted due to her husbands politics.
I also recall she was grateful to have had the AR and stated so, and that she would never give it up.
I would like to retrieve that article for reference but have had no luck with searching the scrubbed 'Net.
Hoping someone here recalls it and can provide the clues or a link to find it?

Thought for a moment one of those might have been the incident I am looking for.
I seem to recall that there were children in the home when the attack happened.
