Like the other commentators, using debit cards here is a real no-no. When traveling, I use gift cards which have a max value, if someone gets access to one, the loss is only what is left of the $50 initial value. Lots easier on the mind and soul.
Someone in Europe managed to get my wife’s debit card number and bought or attempted to buy a $450 pair of Italian sunglasses. Our bank caught it and denied the purchase. No money lost.
