Trying not to “offend” ruins every human relationship. It requires that one assume quite alot about another, and that communication be based on such often faulty assumptions. It’s better, as in this cartoon, to just let it all hang out. As a kid, I was teased because of my German lineage. Got called all kinds of things, including (gasp!) Hitler. We teased the Irish kids, the Portuguese, the Native Americans, the Mexican, and later, when we finally got one in our class, the black kid. And they all fired back. And we all got along just fine, making close friendships and playing sports together. Such different world.
Yup. An old buddy of mine, since HS, Black guy who made Marc Henry look like Don Lemon. I nicknamed him Magilla and he would poke fun at me being Jewish and my Polish ancestry. We understood it was all in fun, nothing more nothing less.
