I have tried them but find they have too strong a taste. I know they are better for you.

Yeah I know but I can’t do lights where I would like to. Enough said about that.

All the rain - 5 inches last week - caused all the tomatoes to split. Still gonna freeze them, just cut around the ugly stuff. Everything else is done in our veggie garden. We didn’t go in for squashes because we don’t have much space.

This week we will be removing plants from the veggie garden and the summer flowers from around the house. Supposed to be in the 60s and sunny most of the week, so perfect time to do that.

I will also be planting some daffodil bulbs. Because there will be no rain this week, I will heavily sprinkle cayenne over the planting sites to discourage squirrels. Anyone have better squirrel defying advice?

Hundreds of tomatoes so far, and a few Butternut squash, glory to God!, even though the temps are in mostly 60's on average (36F tonite).

Goliath Toms, planted in mid May at about 12'' tall and in prime sun, have not produced much, while Early Girls started at a few inches in late May are the healthiest and more fruitful among large toms. Some of which are "volunteer" tom plants.

Supersweet 100 Cherry toms are bar fa the most fruitful and healthy overall, with plenty to share, praise the Lord.

EarlyGirl.Sept.10

Quite a contrast in seasons.

I miss managing the Garden Center the most in the Fall. Spring is InSaNiTy on steroids, but Fall has so many of the colors I love and it's a much slower pace.

Great looking pie! I challenge Mrs. Bender to a duel. This is my French Apple Pie. Made it with our Haralson and Freedom apples. In my long history of pie-baking this one is one for the record books in terms of taste, texture and keeping a crunchy top. Thanks, Betty Crocker!

I used to sell all of the Fox Farm brand of soil mixes at Jung’s. They were expensive, but had a loyal following and a lot of really ‘yummy stuff’ in their dirk, LOL!

Totally cool artwork on all of their packaging. :)

I have been thinking of trying that myself. Fresh herbs would be nice and leaf lettuce too.

Went to our local botanic garden today as they were having their annual bonsai show but I likes all their mums decorations more. Took LOTS more pictures than this.
