Most of the major problems I have run into in recent years come from Symantec.
Back in the early 80's, Peter Norton was my hero -- his Utilities saved the day more times than I can count. When Norton sold the Norton name and product line to Symantec, it went straight into the crapper and became just another turd circling the drain.
Back in the late 80's, McAfee was a good package. After John McAfee sold the McAfee name and product line to Network Associates, it went straight into the crapper and followed Norton.
Do we see a pattern here? :-)
Back in the day, Norton Utilities (the original ones, from Norton) were awesome. After Norton sold out to Symantec, the suck commenced, and never improved so far as I can see.
