This article asserts that Dem representatives (Schiff and co) are essentially in the role of Federal Prosecuters right now (!!!) and as such, they are therefore legitimately following a legitimate, established “Federal Criminal Process” with the impeachment hearings right now. Here’s the link to that Federal Criminal Process:

That whole assertion seems bizarre to me, but I have no legal background.

If you have time (and sufficient interest), would you offer your opinion on the comparison of Schiff and co. to federal prosecutors in this context, and the comparison of their impeachment “inquiry” to the Federal Criminal Process cited?

I’m interested, but away from home on business so not much time to explain.

The parallel to prosecutor is reasonable, including duties of not going on fishing expeditions, not harassing people with process, and using discretion and fairness when deciding a behavior should be brought to trial. A prosecutor should only bring a case when he objectively believes a jury will agree a crime has been committed.

The house may or may not take the role investigator. Usually they don’t take this in the first place, they independently judge facts brought to them by outside investigators, and maybe expand from there.
