Not an issue worth the time discussing. We visited our moon a few times 5 decades ago. Collected some rocks and planted a flag at very great expense. Haven’t been back since. And, it will be many years before we go back.
The hazards to humans not to mention the expense of long-term deep space travel and exposure to zero gravity and radiation bombardment on the human body makes the attempt with current or near term tech a fools errand.
Long term radiation in space problem was solved by Project Orion back in the 1960s, but was cancelled due to irrational fears and politics.
Humans will continue to go into space as soon as there is political will to do so. Expense will not be an issue, except to curmudgeons. Many years for the US means perhaps 5 - unless the Chinese go back sooner.
NASA has gotten into “wishing and hoping” mode.
They believe in magic—it is all they have left.
Humans MUST go to the stars lest the whole human race die of a single event.
