Rush Limbaugh promulgated a theory last year that the Democrat Party is actually an arm of the media, essentially the MSM's legislative component. He stated on a number of occasions that the correct way to look at the current situation is that the MSM is the real power, controlled by international forces and not really driven by market forces, advertising revenue, etc.
That the MSM is now so big and so influential that the Democrats are actually subservient to it, are just an appendage of it.
