Well beats going to the Tower like in the old days.
Back in the day...royals, aristos, and yes, even just the very wealthy Brits who were thrown into The Tower, had spacious rooms there, were allowed to bring in comfortable furniture, rugs, wall hangings, books, paper, pens, ink, etc. and also had servants with them and brought in their own upscale food and drink...until their executions.
Though there were some aristos who were tortured before they were put to death and disallowed any comforts.
