OK OK.! I was just waiting for someone to chime in with the correct answer. LOL! So here it is. Back in the early days of vinyl music. We’re talking early 20th century, vinyl records played at 78 RPM. In those days they could only fit one song on a side of vinyl. So if an artist was going to release a “album” of 10 songs it had to be sold in a five record set. Those five records were sold in an .....are you ready for it? Are you ready? You’re not gonna believe it. An ALBUM!!!!

So you see, once they were able to fit 10 songs on one record, the word album became obsolete but we kept using it. So why not keep using it for digital downloads? Makes about as much sense.
