Chris Petersen has stepped down as the head coach at the University of Washington.
The shocking news was announced by the school on Monday, three days after UW concluded the 2019 season with a win over rival Washington State to finish the regular season with a 7-5 record.
Petersen spent six seasons as UWs head coach, accumulating a 54-26 record with two Pac-12 titles and one College Football Playoff appearance. With Petersen stepping down, defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake has been promoted to head coach.

USC is a mess as is the PAC 10 er 11 er 12. Oh why did we take Utah and Colorado when we could have had UNLV, BSU, UNM even Fresno. What fools are we!!!!

I think he is going to Dallas, but not as Head Coach. He’ll be defensive coordinator.

Jerry wants Lincoln Riley. Don’t think he’ll get him, though.

Except for the fact that Utah is the PAC-12’s only, and I mean only, chance of making the CFP, you could’ve been right. As it is, you’ll probably be a Utah fan this weekend.

Interesting conversation on the radio today with John Clayton. For those who think he is going to the pro's, Peterson has had pro offers before and turned them down because he knows he is a college guy
so don't get your hopes up Cowboy's fans.
For those who think he will head to USC or UCLA, the opinion of Clayton is that one of the reasons that he stepped down was that he did not like the spotlight of being a coach at a major program in a major town. Going to USC or UCLA would be worse than Seattle in that regard.
With both these things in mind, I could see Alabama DC as a landing spot, however he has been HC a long time, so not sure he would want to be DC, and I doubt he would want to be HC in waiting at Alabama if he did not like the big spotlight.
I really think the most likely scenario is that he will take a year off, then if he wants to come back, going to a smaller market major, most likely on the west coast, like back to Boise State, or maybe a school like Utah, Colorado State, Fresno, or UCSD.

With both these things in mind, I could see Alabama DC as a landing spot, Why would you think that likely? Chris Petersen has always worked the offensive side of the ball.
I believe that Chris Petersen is truly burned out and wants to spend more time with his family. He has always marched to a different drummer and several people close to him had warned Husky fans that he is likely to retire at an early age. Unlike a lot of other prominent coaches, football was not the most important thing in his life.

Speaking of Harbaugh, are there any whispers about his leaving Michigan? I hope not. I enjoy watching his press conferences after losing.

According to my sources, Chris Petersen has been offered the Head Coach job at Alabama.
Nick Saban is out after his blow out loss to Clemson in 2018 and for playing an injured Tua against Western Carolina.

Unbelievable as it may seem, reaction is mixed. Some think OSU has simply risen to another level. Others are fed up and want him and his DC gone. The rest of us just think he's mentally ill, but as long as the $$$ pour in, he's in...so, enjoy!
BTW, check out 1:45:00 of THIS video. A slightly over-thrown pass, with OSU down by only 6, with only 1:40 left in the game...or we'd be talking...0-16.
Yep, the only win in 16 years, 2011, at home, against a interim coach(Luke Fickell), a team in turmoil/coach resigns after "scandal", missing players due to suspension, 6th worst record of OSU since WWII, etc., etc....and the best the delusional's could muster...a lucky 6 point win.
Hail to the victors(?)...who've pretty much won nothing since the days of leather helmets.
Delusional, yes...but comical at the same time.
BTW, would you be surprised if the higher-ups in the B1G were looking at a divisional realignment, putting the delusional's in the WEST to keep them (and their $$$) from further embarrassment? I wouldn't. Karma???...Badgers annually thump them.
