I went thru something similar at a local WM about 3 years ago. A lady in front of me just finished paying, and I had about $50 worth of groceries loaded up onto the checkout belt. These two loud-mouthed drunks (10:30am on a Tuesday morning no less) came up in line behind me. They were loud, cussing each other like pirates. I just ignored em, but the lady in front of me quickly grabbed her groceries and hurriedly headed for the door. Meanwhile, these two azz-clowns behind me were getting louder and worse. “MFing” me, this and that, and I happened to turn around and look at them (my first mistake). The one closest to me said: “What ta F you lookin’ at, MFer?” I calmly and slowly looked him up & down, around, sideways and then said: “Well, I’m not sure what I’m looking at, but it sure as hell ain’t much.” (my second mistake). He grabbed my shoulder and took a huge swing at me, but he missed....I didn’t, and he went crashing into the candy/magazine racks....out like a light with blood spewing from his nose and mouth (my third mistake). The other one wanted no part of it, and about that time the manager and a sheriff’s deputy came rushing over and I was immediately cuffed. He took my phone, wallet, pocket knife and my 9mm (I’m a legal CC permittee and my gun was never drawn out of the holster during the whole incident). I was then escorted outside where I was locked into the back of a police SUV. Within just a few minutes, 3-4 more police units arrived with lights flashing.
About 30 minutes passed (felt like hours). Finally, they drag the two drunks out, both cuffed, one just covered in blood and tossed em into another SUV and left with them. The deputy that cuffed me came back out shortly thereafter, gave my belongings back to me, and told me to get to hell outta there. I never heard anything from it since. I hate WM.

That is because it doesn’t work any more. Crazy just attacks you when you turn your back.
Last night I had to wait an extremely long time in line in a grocery store because the obvious Hispanic illegal ahead of me had to unload a semi truck load of sugar and fat laden snack foods on the register belt and pay for those, and then use her government funded card to pay for her other foods. Then she asked for a case of Similac, only to hold up the line further when it turned out her WIC card was out of money. Then the cashier had to take the Similac back where it came from, etc. etc. etc. I could see why some people get furious waiting in line. I was getting to that point myself at this hot mess holding everyone up with her nonsense, all the while intently aware that I was paying for this illegal's food. BTW, she looked perfectly able-bodied, AND she's got her anchor baby already. Fixed for life, thanks to our stupid politicians.
The neighborhood WalMart grocery I’ve been using has virtually eliminated cashiers. There might be one along with 10-12 DIY scanners. That coupled with the hit or miss stocking of shelves is not attracting customers.

It has better quality merchandise than Walmart, that's for sure.

Yup, that why the powers that be get paid the big bucks. They can also call security or cops, if needed, to take care of a crazy.

One of my bros uses it’s grocery delivery service - there’s always some problem, great or small. Last time, they cancelled delivery out of the blue for some unknown reason (dunno if the driver had an accident or what the reason was).

They wait until everything is totaled, THEN they search for the checkbook hidden in a cavernous purse then commence to your scenario.

Just because he had a full shopping cart and a wad of double and triple coupons in an Express lane, is no reason to get pi$$ed. (sarc)
I have gotten behind people with checkbooks who seem to never get them out early but if a women they will dig around in the purse for what seems minutes, then come the coupons.... : )
I was at a Target at a self check out lane waiting my turn when I saw a ‘young’ person use their cellphone to pay.
Was that some witchcraft I saw?
I guess people with checkbooks think the samething when I use my debit card.

They’re doing that at our Walmart, too. It started with two pretty obscure self-service lanes — which nobody used. Then about every month, they remove two regular lanes and put in two more self-service lanes — which nobody uses. They’ve encroached on most of the checkout area and, still, nobody uses them.
A lot of chatter in line is that although shoppers know how to use self service, they don’t — just for spite or something. They’re offended to be denied the personal touch with a cashier. I’ll do it if I don’t have produce, but I hate it.
The ones that annoy me are the ones talking on the cell phone while checking out. It’s slower to load bags into the cart with only one hand, and then they aren’t paying attention when paying the bill.
The self checkout was not working today at Ralphs grocery. Several people tried but no go so the store opened another checkout with a cashier. That is my complaint is the self checkout is not reliable then you have to wait around for help.
