AMC and production company Stalwart Films had argued that John Berneckers death in a fall from a balcony during a staged fight was an unforeseen accident that happened when the trained stuntman missed a landing pad 25 feet (7.62 meters) below.
Berneckers parents, Susan and Hagen Bernecker, sued AMC, Stalwart and several other defendants involved in the shows production, claiming they skimped on safety measures for financial and scheduling concerns.
In a statement, plaintiffs attorney Jeffrey Harris said the 33-year-old was a remarkably talented stunt professional who had an incredibly bright future in the film industry. My sincere hope is this verdict sends a clear message regarding the need to both elevate and strictly adhere to industry safety standards every day, on every shoot, on every film set.

Then actors would not need stuntman, putting a whole league of people out of work.

Sorry but a stunt man who is incredibly talented doesn’t miss a mark by 25 feet. I wouldn’t pay a dime for his stupidity.
$8.6 million is about 5 minutes worth of shooting. Or in layman’s terms, it’s about 8.6 lifetimes of spending.
But...he came back to life as a zombie, right?
No, he was 25 feet above it.
He missed it by inches.
TWD totally jumped the shark long ago.
For me, it started going down hill after the homo guys. Then just became a soap opera with zombies. Meh. Stopped watching after Rick left in the helicopter.
What season did Rick leave in a helio? I stopped watching when Caaaarl died. Longest death ever, LOL
I admit, I laughed at this even though I shouldn’t have.
You are correct. The whole gay thing has definitely led to the downward spiral. That and the ‘moral superiority’ they all seem to have or are developing, when dealing with their enemies.
At least they were, finally, smart enough to get near the coast.
ROFLMFAO!!!
I started watching when the series first started, and lost interest quickly; I missed “the homo guys”...
Seemed like PC nonsense even without that...
Jackie Chan is a talented stunt man but he’s nearly been killed numerous times in his productions.
Watching Rick initiate laughable tactics which in the real world would have wiped out the entire group reached a saturation point. This one in particular.... “Let’s all walk bunched up in this valley and not send out scouts to determine the disposition of the OPFOR.” Geez look at that... . a numerically superior force has us surrounded on the high ground in a textbook kill zone .Good thing we had someone on the inside sabotage all of their rounds, which miraculously was the first round chambered in the OPFOR’s weapons... ..
Yup. It was over for me when they let the zombies out of the quarry.
OSHA issues fine over John Berneckers death
The max fine was piddly.
i think i made it through the first two episodes of this series many years ago.
I could only imagine; I never finished the first season.
