Thanks for the link-that is more mainstream, which I like-the stuff my co-worker listens to is nothing like that at all-it reminds me of gangsta rap-violent, ugly lyrics but with metal instead of a backbeat...

Don't know. I've never heard of skinheads being too friendly with metalheads, at least not here in the US. Who knows in Europe!
Which is not to say those things he mentions are not present in heavy music! I've just never heard them in death metal, is all. But there is a lot I don't know about music.
Haha I hear you about Central Florida. It was a nice place to grow up. I spent a lot of time on the base in Orlando -- the father of one of my childhood friends was the head guy there in the late 70s. Afterwards, some of my friends went through training there, as well as an aunt of mine. Who could be so angry living in central Florida? :-)
I listen to black metal more than death, but I have never heard of Craft. I will check them out! Thanks! Lately I have been on an Alcest kick -- French guys playing what is whimsically termed "blackgaze." (The names they give the genres of heavy music are just hilarious.) Alcest might not be heavy enough for some, but if you are into some of the more melodic black metal, you might like them!
And as far as Absu, I think the drummer is also the singer. I do not even know how that is possible!

Maybe calling them proto-punk would be accurate.Sounds right to me since there was no genre called Punk during their first 10+ years. Those bands that actually were called Punk never did anything for me.

Agreed. IIRC, their film Quadrophenia was another example of the "angry young man" theme. Absolutely! Angry was definitely one of Jimmy's four personalities.

I really liked The Clash, and found the Sex Pistols mildly amusing. Sad I missed them at the time, would have been something to see.

The Who is some sort of folk band I believe.

I had no idea that information was even compiled and available. Guess I should just start at the first entry of Wiki and read right through to the last entry.

You're right, it's not a heavy metal song...I was just being a noodge. ;~)
This has been one of the more enjoyable Freep threads in a long while.

She’ll be fine. She’s from “the valley” as she always called it, presumably meaning the Rio Grande valley. I think her parents are from Mexico.
She moved to SA after high school. She still has tons of friends in SA, and she was always homesick even after five years in NYC.
And now I have to go to SA soon, or she’s going to “punch my face.” Maybe I’ll like that riverwalk thing.
