“Other informants acted as instigators (our Texas group had one) prodding leaders and members into taking action that would unnecessarily put the unit in danger (physical and legal), and in a bad light to the public. Some informants got militia members on tape talking about planning illegal activities.”
Most Texans I know are strong enough to exercise self-control and not allow themselves to be instigated.
The way that the FBI gets informants is by offering a deal to people facing prosecution: “if you help us get evidence on others, then you get a break on your sentence”. And once they have their hooks in you, you will NEVER be free of them.
It’s what happened to Randy Weaver. They entrapped him into making a modification to a shotgun which resulted in it being a fraction of an inch under the legal limit, then told him he could avoid jail if he infiltrated a group for them. He told them to get stuffed.
If you ever hear of a friend getting arrested for anything, never assume he isn’t under pressure to “help” the cops.
